Felix Wins at Palmares

Sweden’s Felix Aber secured his second win as a professional at Onyria Palmares over the Lagos / Praia course with a 6 under par score of 138 which put him 3 shots clear of Jamie Abbott. Aberg built the foundation for his win with a stunning 8 under par 64 which included a double bogey 5 on the par 3 fourteenth, but the 10 birdies he extracted from the course more than made up for that mistake. Aberg’s nearest challenger was James Taverner, who sat 3 shots further back and headed 8 other players who shot level par or better.
The second day proved a more difficult test of golf with an ever-strengthening wind for the players to battle but thankfully the rain stayed away.
Aberg found the front nine a struggle compared to the first day and turned in 40 shots which brought Abbott 2 shots closer to catching the Swede, even though he was 2 over par himself for the front nine holes.

Abbott closed to within one of Aberg with a birdie on the thirteenth and it stayed that way at the next hole when both players made bogey.
Aberg then went on the rampage with birdies at the next three holes to take a comfortable 4 shot lead to the last tee.
Abbott did birdie the last but a solid par from Aberg secured the win by 3 shots and a delighted Aberg said, “that after my birdie blitz on the first day I had to grind really hard to keep it together on the second day”.

We now head off to the second swing, with 2 tournaments at Pinheiros Altos and the final event of 2016 at San Lourenzo before we head home for Christmas.
The third swing in January is now nearly full with just a handful of places left, so if you want to play against some of the best golfers from tours worldwide, on 3 of the best courses in the Algarve then you need to enter as soon as possible.
